Raleigh Arts has announced the installation of a new mural near Union Station as part of the SEEK Raleigh program. The mural, titled Asian Joy, is a community-driven project created by Ina Liu, Isabel Lu, and Sophie Tô.

According to Raleigh Arts, the mural aims to support the well-being and belonging of the pan-ethnic Asian American community in North Carolina through storytelling and public art. Raleigh Arts stated, "The project uses storytelling and public art to support the well-being and belonging of our pan-ethnic Asian American (AA) community in North Carolina."

The team behind the project has collected AA oral histories focusing on finding joy, which have been publicly archived. Raleigh Arts mentioned, "Using these stories, the team is finalizing the mural design and will install it adjacent to Union Station at the end of West Street in downtown Raleigh."

The installation of the mural is scheduled to begin in May and will take several weeks to complete. A celebration hosted by the team is planned for July. More details about the event will be provided closer to the date.

The Asian Joy mural is part of the SEEK Raleigh program, an experimental public art initiative by Raleigh Arts that aims to engage with the community in City of Raleigh parks, greenways, and/or community spaces.
