GoRaleigh has announced plans to introduce additional services starting May 5, 2024, aimed at enhancing transportation options for residents in the Raleigh area.

The changes include the expansion of several routes, with Route 6, Route 70X, Route 19, Route 21, the R-Line, and Route 55X all set to see improvements in their services.

According to GoRaleigh, Route 6: Crabtree will see significant enhancements, becoming one of the high-frequency network routes operating between downtown Raleigh and Duraleigh Rd via Glenwood Ave. The service will run every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday, extending to 30 minutes on Sundays.

For Route 70X: Brier Creek Express, there will be hourly service throughout the week, serving the area north of Duraleigh Rd. to Brier Creek Commons. The route will now connect at the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center and will no longer include Crabtree Valley Mall in its stops.

Route 19: MLK/Sunnybrook will return to a 15-minute frequency during weekdays and a 30-minute frequency on weekends, catering to various destinations including Shaw University, Chavis Park, and Wake County Human Services.

Route 21: Caraleigh is also set to become a high-frequency network route, offering services every 15 minutes on weekdays and serving locations such as Shaw University, NC Farmer’s Market, and Healing Transitions.

The R-Line service will be relaunched, operating every 15 minutes and connecting major destinations in downtown Raleigh, including the Convention Center, Red Hat, and the State Capital Building.

Furthermore, Route 55X: Poole Rd. will now include stops at the social security building on Poole Rd. and the new park and ride facility on Bus Way, featuring 235 parking spots and 12 EV charging stations.

These adjustments aim to provide more efficient and convenient public transportation options for residents and visitors in Raleigh, enhancing connectivity across various key locations in the city.
