Construction has been completed for a new traffic signal at the intersection of Poole Road and Old Poole Road, aimed at enhancing safety in the area. According to reports, the new signal is expected to have a significant impact on safety at the intersection, which had witnessed 28 injury-causing crashes in the five years leading up to the installation of the signal.

The initiative to improve safety at this intersection was a collaborative effort between Raleigh’s Vision Zero Team and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The project, which was funded through NCDOT’s Spot Safety program, was meticulously designed and constructed by NCDOT.

One of the key features of the new signal is the inclusion of pedestrian signals and crosswalks, providing pedestrians with a secure means to cross Poole Road. This enhancement will enable residents to safely access bus stops, neighborhoods, and local businesses in the vicinity.

A spokesperson for the City of Raleigh’s Vision Zero program emphasized the commitment to ensuring the safety of all individuals navigating the city, whether on foot, by bus, or in a vehicle. The completion of this project marks a significant step towards achieving this goal.

As the community celebrates the completion of this safety improvement project, residents are encouraged to anticipate more initiatives from the Vision Zero program that are aimed at further enhancing safety and accessibility within the city.
