As the summer season approaches, many residents are planning celebrations and graduation parties in Raleigh parks. The city is urging the public to take measures to protect local waterways and parks from pollution.

Residents are advised against dumping grease or food waste down storm drains. Instead, they should pour grease into a container and dispose of it in the garbage. Proper disposal of trash and litter is also emphasized, with a recommendation to use renewable products when possible to limit waste. Information on recycling guidelines is available for those who need it.

In case of gasoline, motor oil, or other vehicle fluid leaks, immediate cleanup is crucial. Residents can contact Raleigh Stormwater at 919-996-3940 for assistance with spill cleanups.

The city reminds everyone that only rain should go down storm drains, as it is illegal to dump pollutants in parks and storm drains. Additional resources are available for learning how to identify, report, and prevent water pollution.
