RALEIGH, NC. - On his way to leading the Carolina Hurricanes in scoring during both the regular season and postseason, Sebastian Aho achieved several personal milestones and continued climbing up the franchise's record books.

On October 14, Aho surpassed Eric Staal for the most shorthanded goals in franchise history with his 17th career shorthanded goal. This milestone came early in the season when Aho capitalized on a turnover by Kings forward Kevin Fiala, allowing him to score unassisted. Despite this being his only shorthanded goal of the season, Aho leads all NHL skaters with 16 shorthanded goals since the start of the 2018-19 season.

December 12 marked another significant achievement as Aho passed Eric Staal for the most game-winning goals in team history, recording his 48th game-winner. He ended the regular season with 10 game-winning goals, placing him among only six players league-wide to reach double digits in this category.

Aho reached his 500th career NHL point on December 27 during a power play goal against Nashville. Achieving this milestone in just 552 games, he joined an elite group of Finnish players who reached this mark quickly, including Jari Kurri, Teemu Selanne, and Mikko Rantanen.

On March 22, Aho moved into third place for the most points in franchise history by surpassing Kevin Dineen with his 545th point. His hat trick performance in a high-scoring game against Washington further solidified his position as one of the top scorers in franchise history.

Aho continued to excel by surpassing Rod Brind’Amour for third-most assists in franchise history on March 28. With two assists and a goal against Detroit that night, he matched his career-high points total and later set a new personal best with 89 points by season's end.

Reflecting on these accomplishments, Aho stated: "I expect myself to produce." His consistent performance was evident throughout various other key moments of the season:

- October 14: Scored crucial shootout goal after setting shorthanded goal record.

- November 4: Scored game-winner against New York Islanders after trailing by three goals.

- December: Led NHL in points (20), assists (13), and power play points (11) from December 12 to January 1.

- January: Recorded more multi-point games than games without a point through first half of season.

- February: Moved into third place for multi-point games in franchise history.

- March: Scored twice late to force overtime against Toronto.

- April: Tied Round 1 playoff game against New York Islanders with less than three minutes remaining.

Per Hurricanes PR: "Sebastian Aho became the first player in franchise history to score two goals in the final two minutes of regulation."
