Recent temperature spikes and the high heat index have caused Solid Waste Services (SWS) crews to end some routes early this week. Collections crews cannot work when the heat index reaches 105 degrees or more. Crews are revising route start times and making other accommodations to make up for weather-related misses. Changes include continuing curbside collections over the weekend.
"If your cart has yet to be serviced, please leave it curbside until they are collected," stated a city official. "The City will not issue warnings or fines during this correction period." The official encouraged customers to check back on raleighnc.gov or download the free Raleigh Reuse App for updated information.
