Tom Dundon, the owner and governor of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced that Don Waddell has resigned from his position as President and General Manager. Eric Tulsky will serve as interim general manager while a search for a permanent replacement is conducted. Darren Yorke will assist Tulsky in his duties while continuing as assistant general manager.
Don Waddell shared his thoughts on the decision, stating, “This morning, I spoke with Tom and informed him that I have come to the decision that now is the time for me to move to the next chapter of my career. I have loved my experiences in the Triangle over the past 10 years, and together with a strong team, on and off the ice, we have accomplished many great victories. I am grateful for the support I have received from so many loyal Caniacs. This organization is in strong, capable hands and well-positioned for the future.”
Waddell joined the Hurricanes on July 1, 2014, initially overseeing business operations before becoming general manager on May 8, 2018. Under his leadership, Carolina reached at least one round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs each season during his tenure. The team also achieved a franchise record by selling out their last 67 games at PNC Arena.
Eric Tulsky has been part of the Hurricanes for ten seasons since joining as a consultant in 2014. He later served as a hockey analyst and manager of hockey analytics before being promoted to vice president of hockey management and strategy in 2018. In his role as assistant general manager since 2020, Tulsky has been involved in player personnel decisions and various other aspects of team management.
