Eric Tulsky, the Interim General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced that forward Ryan Suzuki has been re-signed to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal includes $775,000 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the AHL level, with a guaranteed $90,000.

"Ryan is a highly skilled forward who has made great strides early in his professional career," stated Darren Yorke, Assistant General Manager of the Hurricanes. "We have been continually impressed by his work ethic and persistence, and we are happy to keep him in our organization."

Suzuki, aged 23, played 51 games for Springfield in the AHL this season and recorded 30 points with 14 goals and 16 assists. He set a new personal best in goals and matched his record for power-play goals with three. In total, he ranks tied for fifth among all Thunderbirds skaters in both categories. Throughout his AHL career with Springfield and Chicago, Suzuki has accumulated 86 points from 39 goals and 47 assists over 161 games. He was part of the Calder Cup-winning team with the Wolves during the 2021-22 season.

In junior hockey within the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Suzuki amassed 177 points through 57 goals and 120 assists over 173 games while playing for Barrie and Saginaw between 2017-20. His performance earned him a spot on the OHL Second All-Rookie Team in the 2017-18 season. Internationally, he represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2021 where he scored four points from two goals and two assists across seven games to help secure a silver medal.

The London-born player was drafted by Carolina as their first-round pick at number 28 overall during the NHL Draft of 2019.
