Entering the third period of Monday's game, the Carolina Hurricanes were trailing 3-1 against the Dallas Stars. Seth Jarvis, playing his first game since an injury on November 9, was instrumental in turning the tide for his team.
Jarvis collaborated with Sebastian Aho to kill a penalty and then assisted Aho in a 2-on-1 play that energized Lenovo Center and reduced the deficit to one goal. This initiated a series of five goals by the Hurricanes, leading them to a 6-4 victory.
Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour acknowledged the impact of Jarvis and Aho's shift: "That shift (from Jarvis and Aho) kind of just - 'alright, now we're back in it,' and then the building got going and you could just feel the bench getting kind of juiced up."
Despite his crucial role in the comeback, Jarvis attributed their success to the team's veterans: "That's a lot of credit to the older guys in here, just keeping us composed."
Brind'Amour praised Jarvis for his performance after returning from injury: "He was, I thought, the best player on the ice...He's a special player."
Jarvis admitted uncertainty about his readiness but expressed satisfaction with his return: "I felt better than I initially thought I was going to."
In his return, Jarvis played for 17:52 minutes, contributing significantly both offensively and defensively. He emphasized his role as an energy-bringer and emerging leader within the team.
Coach Brind'Amour credited Jarvis for revitalizing the team during the final period: "Jarvy," he answered immediately. "...that's what kind of dragged us in tonight, Jarvy and his performance there."
