Commute Smart Raleigh has launched the "New Year, New Commute" campaign to encourage residents to adopt more sustainable commuting habits. The initiative invites participants to explore greener options and transform their daily travel routines.

The campaign includes a challenge in collaboration with UMO, the fare-payment system for GoRaleigh buses. Participants can track their bus trips using UMO and compete for prizes by being among the top three riders in January 2025. "When you pay your fare with UMO your trips will be logged and the top 3 riders in January 2025 will win a prize," stated Commute Smart Raleigh.

Prizes include AirPods 4 for first place, a HomePod Mini for second place, and an Apple AirTag for third place. To participate, commuters must use either a physical transit card or their smartphone to pay fares on GoRaleigh buses during January.

The campaign aims to promote alternative commuting methods such as walking, biking, carpooling, or taking public transportation. Participants are encouraged to connect with others through campaign events and social gatherings. The initiative also offers personalized tips and resources to help individuals transition smoothly into new commuting practices.

To join the challenge, commuters can download the free UMO app from umomobility.com or obtain a physical transit card at GoRaleigh Station in downtown Raleigh.

Commute Smart Raleigh hopes this effort will make 2025 "the year of the smarter commute" by reducing traffic congestion and benefiting the environment.
