Prime Video is set to release a new series, "House of David," which brings a modern touch to the ancient story of David and Goliath. Co-directed by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, the series offers a fresh perspective on the biblical tale, highlighting aspects such as David's musicianship and his bravery in defeating a lion before facing Goliath.
Michael Iskander stars as David after an extensive casting search, while Martyn Ford plays Goliath. The show also features Stephen Lang as Samuel, described as a guiding force for David. "Samuel is the one who really guides him," Lang noted about his role. Other cast members include Ali Suliman as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Indy Lewis as Mychal, Oded Fehr as Abner, and Louis Ferreira as Jesse.
The plot focuses on David's journey from shepherd to king of Israel. As creator Erwin explains: “There are few stories more recognizable than David and Goliath... His rise to greatness didn’t happen overnight.” The series draws comparisons to other epic dramas like "Game of Thrones" due to its cinematography and themes.
"House of David" premieres on February 27 with three episodes on Prime Video. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly until April 3. The series is available with a Prime membership.
