Governor Josh Stein and the North Carolina Department of Commerce have announced a significant development in rural job creation, with over 800 new positions being established across various counties. This initiative involves collaboration with five companies and the NC Rural Infrastructure Authority.
"I am excited to see over 800 new jobs coming to small town North Carolina," said Governor Stein. "Rural North Carolina has a strong and talented manufacturing workforce, and I am pleased to see companies worldwide take advantage of what we have to offer. We want not only to continue to grow North Carolina’s economy but also to share that growth to every corner of the state."
Lee Lilley, North Carolina Secretary of Commerce, added, "I was born and raised in rural North Carolina, so I know that there are great opportunities for companies to expand in every community in this state. We will continue to pursue opportunities to create great jobs all across North Carolina."
The investments include Syntec Precision Technology Corporation's establishment of its first North American production facility in Vance County, creating 34 jobs with an $8 million investment. Pennsylvania Transformer Technology, LLC is expanding its operations in Hoke County by adding 217 jobs and investing more than $102.5 million. Chatsworth Products, Inc plans a $11 million expansion in Craven County with 45 new positions.
Provalus will open a Center of Excellence in Edenton, generating 61 jobs with a $6.48 million investment in Chowan County. Barrier Fencing Supply will set up headquarters and manufacturing center in Columbus County, resulting in 151 new jobs.
The NC Rural Infrastructure Authority has approved grants for local governments that will facilitate the creation of 785 jobs, including 414 previously announced.
