The Carolina Hurricanes are in Detroit to face the Red Wings for their annual Mentors Trip. The game is set for Tuesday, March 4, with puck drop at 7:00 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game on FanDuel Sports Network South or listen on 99.9 The Fan.

Currently, the Hurricanes hold a record of 35-22-4 and are second in the Metropolitan Division. They secured a 2-1 overtime victory against the Calgary Flames in their last game, thanks to Sebastian Aho's decisive goal. This marked Aho's fifth overtime goal this season, tying him for the most OT winners in a single season.

Pyotr Kochetkov played a crucial role in that win by saving 15 out of 16 shots. However, Frederik Andersen is expected to be in net against Detroit tonight. Andersen has faced challenges recently with four consecutive losses but has performed well historically against Detroit.

The Red Wings have been strong since January 1st with a record of 15-6-2 and boast an impressive power play percentage of 38.2%. Alex DeBrincat has contributed significantly with 25 points over this period. Despite their strengths, Detroit struggles with penalty killing.

Injuries remain a concern for Carolina as William Carrier continues to recover from a lower-body injury sustained earlier this year, and Jesper Fast is out for the season.

For tonight’s matchup, Carolina will wear black uniforms while Detroit showcases their Stadium Series jerseys at home.

Following this game, Carolina will practice on Wednesday before facing Boston at home on Thursday ahead of the trade deadline.
