Mark Jankowski has made a significant impact since joining the Carolina Hurricanes. Acquired on March 7, Jankowski was expected to be a versatile addition to the forward lineup, especially with the absence of key players like William Carrier and Andrei Svechnikov.

Contrary to initial expectations, Jankowski has shown remarkable scoring prowess. In his first four games with the Hurricanes, he scored four goals from just four shots. These goals came against prominent goaltenders Connor Hellebuyck and Sam Ersson.

"I feel like it's just coming to me right now. [I'm] playing with great players [and] obviously we're a great team," Jankowski commented after a game in Philadelphia.

The NHL's official records, dating back to the 1997-98 season, indicate that Jankowski is the first player in 28 seasons to achieve such a feat for a new franchise. His contributions have energized the team during their seven-game winning streak.

"He's putting the puck in the net on his chances. That's one way to make friends," remarked Rod Brind'Amour, head coach of the Hurricanes.

Jankowski plays an average of 9:44 per game and credits his teammates for making him feel welcome and comfortable from day one. "Everyone just made me feel so welcome," he said.

Before joining Carolina, Jankowski had not scored multiple goals in a game since February 13, 2020. However, he achieved this twice within seven days as part of his new team.

Although maintaining such a shooting percentage may be challenging long-term, Jankowski appears well-integrated into Raleigh's fast-paced style of play. "There's no time and space for the other team. I feel like I can fit well in that system," he explained.

Under contract through next season at $800K AAV, Jankowski appreciates being part of a successful team dynamic: "It's awesome...When you're winning, winning is fun."
