Governor Josh Stein has announced that Opsun Corporation, a manufacturer of solar panel structures, will establish a production facility in High Point, North Carolina. This will be Opsun's first manufacturing operation in the United States, involving an investment of $9.3 million and the creation of 20 new jobs in Guilford County.

“This announcement is yet another illustration of how much companies want to do business in North Carolina,” said Governor Josh Stein. Opsun Corporation, headquartered in Quebec City, manufactures aluminum solar panel mounting structures, which they supply to commercial, industrial, and residential markets. The new facility in High Point is Opsun's third manufacturing site and will expand their operational footprint significantly.

François Gilles-Gagnon, President of Opsun Corporation, expressed enthusiasm about the new operation: “We’re thrilled to open our first US-base factory in such a booming economic and strategic center.” He emphasized the company's commitment to North American-sourced components and to contributing to solar energy growth in North Carolina and the broader U.S. market.

N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the strategic advantage of North Carolina's location and workforce: “In addition to our manufacturing workforce of nearly 470,000 North Carolinians, our state is within a day’s drive of 170 million people.”

The new positions at Opsun's facility offer an average annual salary of $63,015, surpassing the average in Guilford County, and bringing an estimated annual payroll impact of more than $1.2 million to the region. To support Opsun Corporation's move, a $40,000 performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund has been secured, contingent on job creation and capital investment targets being met by the company.

“These new jobs are a great addition to Guilford County and the entire state of North Carolina,” remarked N.C. Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger, praising the local workforce and Opsun's decision to establish a presence there.

The project's success is a collaborative effort involving several partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and various local government and community organizations.
