TOWN OF WAKE FOREST: Traffic Alert – East Holding Avenue

Trafficnight

Town of Wake Forest issued the following announcement on Jul. 24.

Beginning today (Monday, July 26), Town crews will reduce a portion of East Holding Avenue from South Main Street/US 1A to the railroad crossing daily from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. so crews can repair the curb and sidewalk. The work is expected to be completed in early August.

Signage and cones will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid the area if possible and take an alternate route.

For more information, email Street Maintenance Supervisor Joseph Medlin at jmedlin@wakeforestnc.gov.

The Town of Wake Forest offers an interactive map that gives residents a user-friendly and convenient way to view local road closures and restrictions. Accessible under “Common Resources” on the homepage of the Town website, the Traffic Alerts Map allows visitors to point and click on current road and lane closures throughout Wake Forest. Motorists are encouraged to use the information to help plan their route and move safely through work areas.

Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of projects. Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, town staff works with contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.

When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution, and obey flaggers. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers are also urged to double their following distances.
