Town of Garner Police Department issued the following announcement on Jul. 31.
Garner Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred on Friday, July 30, 2021, at approximately 2200 hours on U.S. 70 Hwy E near the intersection of I-40. Kyree Deron Dickerson, 24, of Raleigh sustained multiple gunshot wounds as the result of a drive-by shooting. Mr. Dickerson, the front seat passenger in a 2004 Mercedes, was transported to Wake Medical Center Garner where he later died from his injuries. The driver in Dickerson’s vehicle was not injured. A portion of U.S. 70 Hwy E. remained closed for several hours after the shooting as investigators searched the crime scene for evidence.
“This does not appear to be a random incident, and investigators are working diligently to locate the suspect vehicle and identify the person(s) responsible for Dickerson’s death, “said Captain Lorie Smith.
