City of Raleigh issued the following announcement on March 7.
Raleigh Parks in partnership with NC State Extension – Wake County Educators would like to invite you to participate in one of several “Eat Smart, Move More” nutrition demonstrations at participating Community Centers this Spring.
Registration is now open and will be free. Participants will have a chance to receive several giveaways for attending a demonstration which may include kitchen utensils, healthy recipes and fresh produce courtesy of the Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina.

March 14, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
John Chavis Community Center
March 22, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Lions Park Community Center
April 4, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
April 5, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
April 15, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Cost: Free
Ages: Adults 18+

What to expect:
Participants will discover creative skills and strategies for providing their families with nutritious meals on a limited budget and ways to improve their overall health.
Participants will also learn useful tips about how to:
Save money at the grocery store.
Eat more meals at home.
Prepare Healthy and tasty meals for their families.
Control Portion Sizes.
Improve the diets of family members.
Keep food safety, reduce waste, and foodborne illness
Move more each day.
Replace sugary beverages with healthy options.

Before you come to a demonstration:
Do not attend the demonstration if you are feeling ill.
Register online on RecLink or stop by the front desk of a participating Community Center to claim your spot.
Please arrive arrival 5 minutes before class.
