Interested in learning how to sail this summer? Our Learn to Sail classes will introduce the basics of sailing in a calm setting and at a relaxed pace.
Classes are split into two sections, Theory and Skills. Sailing Theory classes occur in the classroom where participants will learn the parts of a sunfish sailboat, tips for trip preparation, and the environmental factors that will impact your sailing experience. In our Sailing Skills classes, participants will learn paddling strokes, maneuverability, and self-rescue techniques. All equipment is provided. Theory of Sailing is a pre-requisite for Sailing Skills.
This program is open to participants ages 16+. All programs will take place at Lake Johnson Park's Waterfront Center. Dates and times vary, please check RecLink.Raleighnc.gov for the current program schedule. Advance registration is required for this program.
