The goal of the Cultural Interpretation Plan is to explore Dix Park's complex history and many stories, and make recommendations for how visitors will learn about and experience this history in the future of the park.
After 18 months of researching, listening, and strategizing about how history, community, recreation, and reflection could come together at Dix Park, officials are finalizing the Cultural Interpretation Plan. They are seeking public input on the draft plan.
"We're finalizing the Cultural Interpretation Plan — and we want to know what you think," a statement from park officials reads.
The draft plan can be reviewed at the online engagement hub where residents are encouraged to share their thoughts via a brief survey.
The plan outlines several key elements:
- Goals and considerations for cultural interpretation at Dix Park.
- An overview of project planning, research, and community engagement efforts.
- Community histories, stories, and interpretive themes to be included.
- Recommendations for key projects such as history trails and tours, exhibits, memorials, spaces for reflection, art installations, programming initiatives among others.
"This plan will guide the ongoing process of community planning for Dix Park," according to park officials.
Residents' feedback is deemed crucial in shaping this significant work. The deadline to participate in the survey is May 31.
