Starting Monday, Sept. 16, construction will commence on Ingram Drive between Atlantic Avenue and Brentwood Road, leading to a new traffic pattern on Atlantic Avenue.
The City’s construction contractor, Carolina Sunrock, will close the intersection of Ingram Drive and Atlantic Avenue for 60 days to perform significant grading and utility work. This closure will result in traffic being redirected to the west side of Atlantic Avenue.
During this period, there will be no access to Ingram Drive from Atlantic Avenue. A detour map has been provided for reference.
The improvements are part of a broader project on Atlantic Avenue between New Hope Church Road and Highwoods Boulevard. According to crash data, multiple accidents have occurred at the Ingram Drive intersection due to limited visibility. To address this issue, the intersection is being raised to enhance sight distance.
The objective is to ensure that Raleigh roads are safe and accessible for all users. The City acknowledges that this closure may cause delays or travel inconveniences and appreciates public patience during this critical project.
