There are thousands of employees that keep the city running each day. The video series, “This is What I Do,” highlights some of the unsung heroes who often work behind the scenes in critical functions to serve our community.
The most recent episode features Tanya Orr, a Senior Commercial Electrical Inspector with the Planning and Development Department. With more than 25 years in the field, Tanya helps contractors complete their projects safely and efficiently.
Despite challenges like extreme weather conditions and climbing tall ladders, Tanya loves her job. She is honored to be the city’s first female trade inspector and hopes to spread the word about what a wonderful profession it is for everyone.
"This is What I Do! Inspect electrical systems to ensure safety," says Tanya Orr. She joined the city after working as an electrician in NYC for more than 25 years. As the city's first female trade inspector, she is eager to spread the word about what a great profession this is for everyone.
