Raleigh’s new City Hall has begun with a substantial foundation, essential for the success of any building. The new 17-story structure required an extensive amount of concrete to ensure stability.
Recently, McDowell Street saw a steady stream of 180 concrete trucks, each carrying 10 cubic yards of concrete. This amounted to approximately 3,420 tons of material. Crews dedicated nearly 20 hours to pour the concrete, resulting in a foundation that is five feet deep.
The next phase involves constructing the walls of the office tower. Once completed, this new facility will streamline city business for residents by consolidating services into one location. Progress on the East Civic Tower project can be followed as it continues.
