The City of Raleigh has announced the successful completion of significant upgrades to nine of its downtown parking decks, enhancing the urban parking experience for residents and visitors. The final upgrades were completed on the Blount Street parking deck on September 11.
Motorists experienced minimal disruption as all nine decks remained operational throughout the project.
According to former Parking Manager Matthew Currier, “The enhancements will transition the City-owned parking decks into a modern and connected operation that is poised to provide a high level of customer service in the post-pandemic environment of hybrid workplaces and employee flexibility. These options will increase the speed at which customers are able to leave the deck and reduce frustration for customers waiting in line at exit.”
The upgrades introduce several new features aimed at improving convenience and efficiency:
- Fully Automated Systems: New equipment from Skidata, Inc. provides a seamless, high-tech experience.
- Expedited Entry and Exit: Faster processing times reduce wait times for drivers.
- 24/7 Live Support: Immediate assistance is available at any time.
- Multilingual Support and Payment Options: Catering to a diverse audience with various language options and payment methods.
- ADA Compliant Screens: Large, color screens enhance accessibility for all users.
These improvements promise a smoother, more user-friendly parking experience, aligning with Raleigh's commitment to modernizing city services. The upgrades are expected to set a new standard in urban parking solutions, reflecting the city's dedication to enhancing convenience and customer satisfaction.
