The upcoming Stormwater Awareness Week, a national initiative, offers workshops, webinars, and other events focused on stormwater practices, updates, and new technology. The event is free to attend.

One of the sessions is "Building Successful Stream and Drainage Programs," scheduled for Wednesday, September 25 at 10:00 am. This virtual session will discuss Raleigh's two programs that assist private property owners with flooding and erosion: the Drainage Assistance Program and the Stream Stabilization Program. The Drainage Assistance Program was established in 2016 to help residents with flooding and severe erosion issues. In 2022, the City Council authorized the creation of the Stream Stabilization Program to address moderate erosion. Participants will learn how these initiatives have benefited Raleigh residents.

Another session titled "Regional Spotlight: Raleigh Stormwater" will take place on Friday, September 27 at 9:00 am. This new feature aims to spotlight different regions within the stormwater community. This year’s third spotlight focuses on Raleigh, North Carolina, known as the “City of Oaks.” The session will explore how Raleigh's stormwater management team preserves local water resources while addressing challenges from growth and development.
