Community leaders are emphasizing the importance of introducing young children to cultural diversity. They believe that teaching preschoolers about different cultures can broaden their perspectives and promote respect and appreciation for diversity. To support this initiative, a new Social Diversity Reading Program has been established.

The program was founded by Micah Ruffin, a preschooler from Raleigh with a passion for reading maps. The aim is to incorporate cultural diversity into educational settings and family-friendly activities. Through engaging books and mapping activities, children will learn about global differences, fostering a sense of community and respect for various cultures.

The events will take place at the John P. “Top” Greene Community Center on Tuesday, November 5, and Wednesday, December 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program is designed for preschool-aged children and is free of charge. Interested participants can register through RecLink.
