Raleigh Police Department officers and staff have been dispatched to assist with law enforcement and recovery efforts in the Black Mountain area of western North Carolina. A total of 39 employees were deployed on Friday in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
The RPD has collaborated with county and state partners to organize the deployment of personnel and resources to the affected region. This effort includes personnel from 13 counties and multiple agencies.
The team sent will remain in western North Carolina until a second group of RPD officers and staff takes over. Each team consists of skilled members dedicated to providing relief and support.
“We are proud of the nearly 150 members who are volunteering to assist in the rescue and recovery missions,” said Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson. “Our mission is to provide relief and support to public safety in Black Mountain.”
Those remaining in Raleigh continue their duties, ensuring community service while covering assignments for those deployed.
Raleigh police cruisers were seen lined up as they prepared to travel to western NC for recovery efforts related to Hurricane Helene.
