The City of Raleigh is organizing the "Coats Cause We Care" drive for 2024, aiming to distribute free coats to children and adults in need. This initiative also seeks to promote volunteerism and environmental sustainability.
The campaign encourages residents to donate new or gently used clean coats, emphasizing the importance of community support during the cold winter months. "Every coat goes to a person in need, free of charge and without discrimination or obligation," states the announcement.
Donations are being accepted until Thursday, November 14. Coats can be dropped off at the Sgt. Courtney T. Johnson Community Center from Monday to Friday between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as at any Raleigh Parks Community Center.
The coat giveaway event is scheduled for Saturday, November 16, at the Sgt. Courtney T. Johnson Community Center from noon to 4 p.m. The event is open to all ages and there is no cost involved.
