The Carolina Hurricanes are preparing for the 2024 NHL Draft, set to take place over two days. Round 1 will commence at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, June 28, followed by Rounds 2-7 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 29. Fans in the United States can catch the first round on ESPN, while subsequent rounds will be available on ESPN+ and NHL Network.

The Hurricanes hold nine picks in this year's draft. Their selections include the #27 overall pick in Round 1 and additional picks throughout Rounds 2-7. Seven of these picks are originally theirs, while two were acquired through trades with other teams earlier this year.

Eligible players include North American athletes aged between 18 and 20 years by specific dates in their draft year, as well as international players up to age 21. Those born between September 16, 2005, and September 15, 2006, are entering their first year of eligibility.

Selected players have various paths ahead of them. Some may continue playing in NCAA hockey or North American junior leagues, while others might remain overseas. A few top draftees could make an immediate jump to the NHL.

Following the draft, some newly selected Hurricanes players will attend a development camp in North Carolina in July. This event offers an opportunity for skill assessment and familiarization with the organization.

The San Jose Sharks hold the first overall pick and are anticipated to choose Macklin Celebrini from Boston University.

For those unable to watch live broadcasts, the NHL's live Draft Tracker will be accessible online via NHL.com starting Friday.
