The Greystone Recreation Center, Optimist Community Center, Laurel Hills Community Center, and Lake Lynn Community Center are hosting a series of holiday-themed crafting sessions. These events provide opportunities for participants to create ornaments, cards, gifts, and food crafts throughout December.
At the Greystone Recreation Center, sessions will be held on Tuesdays at various times: 5:30-6 p.m., 6:15-6:45 p.m., and 7-7:30 p.m. Participants will make unique wooden ornaments using materials such as wooden beads and twigs collected from local parks. "Each week participants will create a fun unique wooden ornament," the announcement states. The cost is $12 per class.
Optimist Community Center offers card-making sessions on Saturdays from 10-10:30 a.m., 10:45-11:15 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Techniques such as paper weaving and marbling will be explored to craft two cards per session. "Each week participants will explore a different technique to create unique cards," according to the release.
Laurel Hills Community Center hosts gift-making classes on Thursdays at 6-6:30 p.m., 6:45-7:15 p.m., and 7:30-8 p.m. Handmade gifts like candles and journal sets can be crafted during these sessions. "Each week participants will get ahead of their Christmas shopping and create special handmade gifts," the statement reads.
Food crafts are featured at Lake Lynn Community Center on Fridays with classes running from 6-6:30 p.m., 6:45-7:15 p.m., and 7:30-8 p.m. Projects include decorating cookies and gingerbread houses or creating hot cocoa spoons. The announcement encourages attendees by saying it's "the time to shake off the advice of never playing with your food."
All activities are open to individuals aged five years old and above, with each session priced at $12.
