Carolina Hurricanes recall Ty Smith and Tyson Jost from AHL's Chicago Wolves

Eric Tulsky, the General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced the recall of defenseman Ty Smith and forward Tyson Jost from the Chicago Wolves, their American Hockey League affiliate.

Ty Smith, aged 24, has recorded two assists and holds a plus-1 rating over three games with the Wolves this season. Originating from Lloydminster, Alberta, Smith spent his previous season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. During that time, he accumulated 43 points through nine goals and 34 assists in 63 games. Smith was initially selected by New Jersey in the first round as the 17th overall pick during the 2018 NHL Draft. Throughout his career in the NHL with New Jersey and Pittsburgh, he has played in 123 games, earning a total of 47 points with eight goals and 39 assists.

Tyson Jost is currently 26 years old and has scored one goal alongside two assists across eight AHL games for Chicago this season. The St. Albert native had previously notched six points within three goals and three assists over 43 NHL games while playing for Buffalo last season. Additionally, he secured another 14 points through four goals and ten assists during his time with Rochester in the AHL. Jost was drafted by Colorado as their first-round pick at tenth overall during the 2016 NHL Draft. In his NHL career spanning teams such as Colorado, Minnesota, and Buffalo, Jost has amassed a total of 140 points comprising of 57 goals and 83 assists across 456 games.

The announcement comes as both players are set to join Carolina’s roster moving forward.
