African American symposium in Raleigh highlights emancipation through education

For Black History Month, the Dr. M.T. Pope House and City of Raleigh Museum are organizing a symposium focused on African American emancipation through education, business ownership, and civic engagement. The event will feature academic presentations and music.

The program is partially supported by North Carolina Humanities, which is the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The symposium will take place at the City of Raleigh Museum on Saturday, February 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is open to individuals aged 15 and up and there is no cost to attend.
