In a tightly contested match at the American Airlines Center, the Carolina Hurricanes secured a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars. The win marks the Hurricanes' third consecutive triumph, thanks to two goals from Jesperi Kotkaniemi and 22 saves by Pyotr Kochetkov.

The game remained scoreless for nearly two periods until Kotkaniemi broke through at 17:07 of the second period. He scored after receiving a pass from Martin Necas, sending a wrist shot under the crossbar. The Stars managed to equalize in the third period, but Kotkaniemi quickly restored Carolina's lead with his second goal, redirecting a pass from Sean Walker.

Kochetkov played a crucial role in maintaining the lead, making several key saves to secure his second consecutive win and extending his personal point streak to four games (3-0-1).

Rod Brind'Amour celebrated his 500th game as head coach with this victory. His record of 307 wins is unmatched by any NHL coach through their first 500 games. "Noticable on the offense, which is great," Brind'Amour commented on Kotkaniemi's performance. "That was a great shot there on the one goal and driving the net, being heavy [on the other]. He's a big kid."

Martin Necas contributed assists on both goals, marking his 16th multi-point game of the season. Meanwhile, Brent Burns noted the challenge posed by Dallas: "We knew that they play a hard game... Pete (DeBoer) takes control of a team and gets them dialed in."

The Hurricanes will return to Raleigh and prepare for their next game against Columbus on Thursday night.
