Lenovo Center Arena | Carolina Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes will play against the Washington Capitals without their captain, Jordan Staal, who is recovering from a lower-body injury. Coach Rod Brind'Amour described the injury as "not overly serious" but emphasized the importance of players being at full health this time of year.
Taylor Hall, recently acquired in January, aims to extend his point streak to five games, which would be his longest this season. Hall's contributions have been critical to the Hurricanes' power play, having scored in four consecutive games, and another goal would tie the team's longest streak.
Seth Jarvis is close to achieving back-to-back 30-goal seasons and has collected points in the last four games. Frederik Andersen, their goaltender, enters having won his last six starts, maintaining a .940 save percentage in March, and allowing two goals or fewer in all appearances.
The betting odds, according to Fanatics Sportsbook, favor the Hurricanes at -210.
The projected lineup for the Hurricanes includes forwards Jarvis, Aho, and Blake; Hall, Roslovic, and Svechnikov; Martinook, Kotkaniemi, and Stankoven; Robinson, Jankowski, and Jost. Defense will feature Slavin and Burns; Orlov and Chatfield; Gostisbehere and Walker, with Andersen starting as goaltender and Kochetkov as backup.
Injuries include William Carrier, out for a couple of months since January, and Jesper Fast, who will not return this season. Staal is day-to-day as of April 1.
The power play units are Aho, Blake, Hall, and Jarvis with Gostisbehere on the first, and Kotkaniemi, Roslovic, Stankoven and Svechnikov with Burns on the second.
The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
