RALEIGH, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes are set to resume play after a nine-day break, which appears to have been beneficial for forward Tyson Jost. Jost, who has been sidelined since December 31 due to a lower-body injury, is nearing a return to the lineup.

During the break, Jost participated in rest and rehab skates. Before the hiatus, he practiced with the team wearing a non-contact jersey. However, on Tuesday at Invisalign Arena, he was a full participant in practice. Centering Eric Robinson and Jack Roslovic, Jost expressed optimism about his return: "I should be good to go," he stated.

Reflecting on his performance before the injury, Jost said, "When I got hurt, I felt like I was playing a really solid game. I liked where my game was going and I was making a difference every time I was out there." He described the incident as "a weird, freak play."

The team's head coach Rod Brind'Amour may rely on Jost's services if no roster changes occur before Saturday's game in Toronto. Juha Jaaska had been recalled following Jost's injury but was sent back after the team's win on February 8.

In other injury news, Brind'Amour provided no new updates on William Carrier's status. Carrier has been out since January due to an old lower-body injury that required surgery. "He's a long ways away," Brind'Amour commented but remained hopeful for Carrier's return this year.

Carrier signed a six-year contract with the Hurricanes last summer and had contributed nine points in 39 games before his injury.
