Duke Energy has announced the allocation of $50,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations as part of its Black History Month celebrations. Employees in South Carolina nominated various nonprofits, with five organizations selected to receive $10,000 each.

Tim Pearson, Duke Energy’s South Carolina president, stated, “We reached out to the men and women who represent Duke Energy in South Carolina every day to see what nonprofits in their communities they wanted to receive grant funding from the Duke Energy Foundation.” He added that these organizations were chosen based on employee nominations and expressed hope that the funds would assist them in supporting local communities.

The recipients include Boys and Girls Club of the Pee Dee Area, Calvary Children’s Home, Fostering Faithfully, Greer Relief and Resource Agency, and A Father’s Way. Each organization will use the grant money to further their missions within their respective communities.

Caroline Robertson, executive director of Greer Relief, expressed gratitude for the support: “At Greer Relief, our mission is to eliminate poverty and help neighbors overcome barriers to success, and this generous support will allow us to continue providing critical resources and programs to underserved communities.”

Neal L. Zimmerman Jr., executive director of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area also appreciated the support: “We appreciate great partners like Duke Energy for understanding the importance of developing our youth and for helping us empower them to reach their full potential.”

The Duke Energy Foundation contributes over $30 million annually toward community needs where its customers reside. Funded by shareholders, it aims to enhance community well-being through philanthropic efforts.
