Duke Energy and its foundation have announced a funding initiative amounting to $150,000 to support workforce development in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky. This funding is specifically designated for nonprofit organizations focused on addressing the workforce training needs in the region.

The foundation aims to back requests that enhance development training in occupations deemed essential in the energy sector, as well as in trade and training initiatives within the Ohio/Kentucky service territory of Duke Energy.

Amy Spiller, president of Duke Energy Ohio/Kentucky, commented, “Funding these workforce initiatives is just one way Duke Energy helps build talent pipelines to power our regional economy for years to come. These grant recipients strengthen our communities with job training, academic support and community services, helping to boost our economy and ensure our neighborhoods can thrive.”

Eligible nonprofit organizations may apply for one-time grants up to $15,000 to support their workforce development programs. The deadline to submit applications is April 30.

Kim Vogelgesang, Duke Energy Foundation manager for Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, stated, “Duke Energy Foundation has a long history of giving back to communities we serve. Being able to support our region’s workforce needs is our way to help maintain vibrant communities.”

Nonprofits interested in applying can verify their eligibility and submit applications at duke-energy.com/workforce.

The Duke Energy Foundation annually contributes over $30 million in philanthropic support to communities it serves, funded by Duke Energy shareholders. Duke Energy, based in Charlotte, N.C., is one of the largest energy holding companies in the U.S., serving millions of customers across several states. Duke Energy Ohio/Kentucky, a subsidiary, provides electricity and natural gas services to a substantial customer base in Ohio and Kentucky.
