EVgo Inc. and Toyota Motor North America have announced the launch of new DC fast charging stations in Baldwin Park and Sacramento, California. These stations are part of Toyota's "Empact" vision and are owned and operated by EVgo. Each station can serve up to eight vehicles at once with 350kW fast chargers.

Scott Levitan, Executive Vice President of Growth at EVgo, emphasized the importance of charging availability for consumers considering electric vehicles (EVs). He stated, "Availability of charging is essential as consumers consider buying or leasing an EV. As automakers offer more electric vehicle choices, EVgo will continue deploying fast chargers for current and prospective EV drivers."

Toyota's "Empact" vision was first introduced in April 2023 to support underserved communities in transitioning to electrified transportation. James George, General Manager of EV Charging Solutions at Toyota Motor North America, highlighted the collaboration with EVgo: “Together with EVgo, we are supporting broader access to charging infrastructure for all battery EV drivers.”

The stations are strategically located near amenities such as grocery stores and shopping malls. Additionally, a program offering one year of complimentary charging for buyers or lessees of the 2025 Toyota bZ4X is also available.

State Senator Angelique Ashby expressed support for the initiative in Sacramento: “Fast charging stations provide critical infrastructure that will amplify the use of clean energy transportation across Senate District 8.” State Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio echoed similar sentiments regarding Baldwin Park.
