North Carolina DEQ to hold public hearing on weatherization plan

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality's State Energy Office is set to conduct a public hearing on the Weatherization Assistance Program’s Annual State Plan on April 17. The hearing is open to in-person and online attendees.

The Weatherization Assistance Program aims to assist low-income and disadvantaged communities throughout North Carolina. The program helps residents reduce energy consumption, lower utility bills, and improve home safety.

Aside from the Annual State Plan, public comments are also sought on several associated documents: the revised Training & Technical Assistance Plan, the Health & Safety Plan, and the Weatherization Installation Standard Work Specifications proposed for adoption.

The public comment period opens on April 7, 2025, and closes on April 21, 2025. To be part of the official record, comments must be postmarked, emailed, or physically delivered to the State Energy Office by April 21.
