Raleigh is undergoing significant growth, with an estimated 53 new residents moving to Wake County each day. The city's evolving neighborhoods are prompting a series of discussions aimed at shaping Raleigh's future. Reflecting Raleigh: Neighborhood Change is the latest in these community conversations.

The upcoming events are designed to encourage public participation and engagement. The first event is scheduled for April 15, featuring a keynote presentation by Alan Mallach, a Senior Fellow with the Center for Community Progress. This will be followed by a panel discussion with notable participants such as Yvette Holmes from Southeast Raleigh Promise, Tiffany Elder of Paradigm Construction, Dan Levine of Self-Help Credit Union, and Brandy Thompson from Clearscapes. This event will be held at the Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m.

A subsequent event titled "State of the City and Community Conversation" is planned for April 22, at St. Matthew’s Church. The session, starting at 6 p.m., will include a presentation by Raleigh’s Assistant Planning Director, Bynum Walter, followed by community discussions at tabletop conversations.

Organizers encourage attendees to register to help plan for accessibility services and other needs. Refreshments and childcare will be available to participants.

Looking ahead, the city has scheduled more discussions centered around sustainability on May 29 and June 5. These future meetings will explore ways in which Raleigh can develop infrastructure that doesn't hinder the needs of future generations.

Reflecting Raleigh is part of the public engagement process for Raleigh’s Next Comprehensive Plan. The outcomes will influence key decisions regarding land use, housing, transportation, parks, and more, ensuring that community input helps in defining the city's goals and vision for the coming years.
