Lowe's is organizing a nationwide campaign to honor those involved in disaster recovery efforts. The initiative, launched as Lowe's prepares to reopen its East Asheville store—damaged by Hurricane Helene—aims to gather one million thank you messages by May 2.
In a public statement, Joe Strong, store manager of Lowe's of East Asheville, emphasized the deep gratitude for first responders and volunteers across the country, especially those affected by recent natural disasters. "Thank you doesn't feel big enough for the heroic work of first responders and volunteers," he said. The East Asheville store will serve as a focal point for this campaign.
To participate, individuals can send thank you notes directly to the East Asheville store at 89 Tunnel Road or use social media with the hashtag #BuildThanks. This initiative is inspired by the quick response of emergency personnel and volunteers following Hurricane Helene, with ongoing efforts in areas recently struck by tornadoes and flooding.
Lowe's has committed significant resources to disaster recovery, including nearly $14 million for hurricane-affected areas and $2 million for wildfire relief in Southern California. The company encourages the public to contribute to this campaign as it runs until May 2, with a summary of the event set for May 3 on Lowe's social media.
