The City of Raleigh has been collaborating with community stakeholders to plan the next steps for the Raleigh Convention Center (RCC) and Red Hat Amphitheater.

Built in 2010 as a temporary venue on land designated for the RCC's future expansion, the Red Hat Amphitheater is now set to be relocated. With the RCC at full capacity and funding secured for its expansion, city officials are moving forward with this long-anticipated project.

A public hearing will be held by the Raleigh City Council to discuss closing one block of South Street between Dawson and McDowell streets. The hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Community members are encouraged to sign up if they wish to speak.
