The Parks crew is inviting volunteers to participate in a mulching event at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Gardens. The activity aims to prepare the area for MLK Day by enhancing its appearance and contributing to environmental benefits such as weed control and improved water retention.

Volunteers will be instructed on proper mulching techniques and the safe use of hand tools, including wheelbarrows, pitchforks, and hard rakes. The work will take place outdoors, with potential challenges like uneven ground, but restroom facilities will be available on site.

Pre-registration is necessary for those interested in volunteering. The event is scheduled for Thursday, January 9th, with Friday, January 10th as a backup date. It will run from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to individuals aged 18 and older.
