The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) is scheduled to meet on February 26 and 27 at the DoubleTree New Bern Riverfront, located at 100 Middle Street in New Bern. The meeting is open to the public both in-person and online.

The CRC's regular business meeting will commence at 3 p.m. on February 26 and continue at 9 a.m. on February 27. A public comment session is planned for noon on February 27, with comments potentially limited to three minutes per person at the chair's discretion. Additionally, the Coastal Resources Advisory Council will hold an in-person meeting on February 26 at 1 p.m. at the same venue.

Key agenda items for the CRC include consideration of variance requests related to oceanfront setbacks in North Topsail Beach and sandbag installations by The Shoals Club on Bald Head Island. A public hearing will also be held regarding the installation and maintenance of wheat straw bales for sand fencing.

On February 27, discussions will cover updates on CRC vs. RRC litigation, objections from the Rules Review Commission, history of ocean hazard setbacks, major permits follow-up, permit renewals and extensions, recommendations for permanent rulemaking concerning various environmental concerns, and a periodic review of CAMA land use planning.

Meeting materials and presentations are available online, with times subject to change.
