Governor Stein recently unveiled his 2025-2027 budget proposal, emphasizing investments in various sectors such as the economy, education, workforce development, healthcare, and public safety. This announcement has garnered responses from several officials and experts.
Alexandra Sirota of the NC Budget and Tax Center commented on the focus on families: "The Governor's proposal makes sure working families keep more of what they earn and can keep up with rising costs for the basics like groceries, gas, and rent."
The North Carolina Partnership for Children praised the budget's increased investment in child care programs: “As a nonpartisan public-private partnership, we are pleased to see Governor Stein's budget recommendations providing increased investments in NC's children and families.”
The Carolina Hunger Initiative highlighted the importance of nutrition programs included in the budget: “The nutrition programs prioritized by Governor Josh Stein... would have significant, positive impacts on the health of North Carolina families.”
The NC Early Childhood Foundation described it as an ambitious budget prioritizing children and long-term economic strength: "It’s clear: this budget recognizes that when families are supported, our communities and economy thrive."

On public safety and health, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality recognized investments aimed at safeguarding natural resources. The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities appreciated prioritization during challenging fiscal times. The Arc of NC expressed gratitude for funding aimed at supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
