Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell addressed an audience exceeding 100 people at the Raleigh Convention Center on March 26, delivering her inaugural State of the City Address. The speech concentrated on the City Council's achievements during its first 100 days, emphasizing key priority areas such as housing and ending homelessness, public safety, and resilience and quality of place.
Mayor Cowell outlined the vision the Council is following for Raleigh's future, stating: “Cities are more consequential than ever. They are engines of growth and where innovation happens. They are the front line of human interaction and the basic necessities of life: clean water, housing, trees, streets and sidewalks. In an uncertain world, cities are also where we find a sense of community and belonging.”
The event featured music from the City’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources band, and a video of the address can be found on the City’s YouTube page, along with a short recap of the evening's activities.
