UNC School of Medicine achieves Tier 1 status in research and primary care

The University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine has been recognized for excellence in both research and primary care, according to the U.S. News & World Report's 2025 "Best Graduate Schools" list. The school achieved Tier 1 status in each category, a distinction shared by only one other medical school in the nation.

Several specialty programs at UNC also received high rankings. Audiology and Clinical Psychology both tied for second place. Healthcare Management secured the second position, while Speech Language Pathology tied for fifth. Occupational Therapy was ranked seventh, and Rehabilitation Counseling tied for seventh, with Physical Therapy tying for tenth.

Additionally, multiple graduate programs at UNC-Chapel Hill have been acknowledged in the top ten of their fields. Notably, the Gillings School of Global Public Health was tied for second place among public health programs in the country.
