The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) State Energy Office will conduct a public hearing regarding the Weatherization Assistance Program's Annual State Plan on April 17. The hearing invites public participation, either in person or online.
The Weatherization Assistance Program is designed to aid low-income and disadvantaged communities in North Carolina by helping residents conserve energy, lower utility expenses, and maintain safety in their homes.
Alongside the Annual State Plan, public comments are welcome concerning the accompanying revised Training & Technical Assistance Plan, Health & Safety Plan, and Weatherization Installation Standard Work Specifications proposed for adoption.

Public comments are also accepted by mail addressed to NC DEQ Weatherization Assistance Program, 1613 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1613, or by email to seo.publiccomments@deq.nc.gov, using the subject line “2025 Weatherization Comment.”
The period for public comments begins on April 7, 2025, and extends until April 21, 2025. To be considered part of the hearing record, all submissions must be postmarked, emailed, or received by the State Energy Office by April 21, 2025.
