City of Raleigh issued the following announcement on June 6.
New yard waste carts -- nearly 110,000 of them -- are being delivered to residential customers throughout Raleigh. Delivery is nearly complete. Along the way, many residents have requested we collect the new cart because they simply don't have room to store the 95-gallon yard waste cart along with their garbage and recycling carts of the same size.
To respond quickly to the volume of requests and maintain our core services, Solid Waste Services is now working with a contractor(s) to support collection of yard waste carts.
Carts will only be collected from properties that have submitted a pickup request via email or through our Customer Care Center. Carts must be placed curbside and remain there until pickup, as contractors are not allowed to enter private property.
- Contractors will have documentation to affirm their employment with the City of Raleigh.
- Contractors may use a variety of vehicle types during collection, but all will bear a City of Raleigh Contractor vehicle magnet for easy identification.
- Pickups may be delayed if the yard waste cart is not curbside when the contractor arrive.
