TOWN OF WAKE FOREST: Fire Department’s Centennial Celebration continues with Memorial Garden Dedication June 17

Dedication

Town of Wake Forest issued the following announcement on June 9.

The Wake Forest Fire Department (WFFD) will continue its Centennial Celebration with a special dedication service for the new Wake Forest Firefighters Memorial Garden at Fire Station #1 on Friday, June 17, at 10 a.m. The station is located at 420 Elm Avenue and the Memorial Garden is situated at the corner of Elm and South Franklin Street.

The dedication service will include brief remarks by Fire Chief Ron Early and the unveiling of two new memorial benches, one of which is in honor of Lewis Nuckles, a Wake Forest volunteer fireman who died in the line of duty in 1982.

Designed to offer a quiet place of reflection and commemorate past and present firefighters, the memorial garden will feature natural plantings and flowers, along with over 30 engraved brick pavers.

The community is invited to attend the June 17 dedication service. For more information, contact Chief Early at rearly@wakeforestnc.gov.
